Rita Medaglio-Barrera is President and Founder of BMR Global Wealth Management Group ,Inc. with 30 years experience as a financial planner and 23 years experience as a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. She has experience in divorce litigation services and working with couples in Mediation and Collaborative Divorce as the financial neutral. Rita works with clients in Florida and New York. Rita is a Collaborative Divorce Financial Neutral for 18 years and has extensive experience working on Collaborative Divorce cases in New York, Long Island, and Florida. She has completed advanced training classes in both Mediation and Collaborative Practice. She is a member of Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals as well as Brevard County Collaborative Divorce Group in Florida, and The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
Rita also has experience as a Courtroom Expert Witness for divorcing clients in litigation in Florida. Rita was interviewed by Jean Chatzky for More Magazine in an article entitled "Keep Your Cash Divorce" in March 2011 issue. Rita was featured in the Long Island Business section of Newsday and was on a panel that included Suffolk County Administrative Judge, speaking about Collaborative Law presented at the Suffolk Academy of Law in conjunction with the Suffolk County Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. Rita Medaglio-Barrera has been a guest speaker for many organizations over the years about divorce financial planning and the role of the CDFA® which includes Financial Planning Association, LI Chapter, Suffolk County Women's Bar Association, Family Service League of Suffolk County, NY as well as on WRHU 88.7 FM Radio Talk Show. She has written an article on the pitfalls encountered when dividing up pensions and the QDRO and was interviewed in June 2008 with The Chicago Tribune, in an article entitled "Court Order Needed to Split Retirement Accounts in Divorce" and in April 2008 Divorce 360.com, entitled "Real Estate: Housing Reform Package May Not Help Divorcing Couples", and in Wealth Manager Magazine in December 2004 in an article entitled, "Gone to Pieces".
Rita received the Long Island Business News 50 or so Around 50 Award for recognition of outstanding achievements, leadership, and contribution to Long Island. She also received a Proclamation/Resolution adopted by New York State Senate & Assembly for recognition of receiving the Sally Anne Slacke/Linda Jasper Memorial Award by the Research & Education Fund of Suffolk County Women's Enterprise Coalition for an exemplary business model, and her contribution to the mediation and collaborative divorce profession.
